In plain English: We don't sell your data. Usage analytics are opt-in; crash and error diagnostics are collected so we can keep Hynto working. You can email privacy@hynto.app at any time to access or delete your account.

Welcome to Hynto ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application.

Please read this privacy policy carefully. If you do not agree with the terms of this privacy policy, please do not access the application.

Information We Collect

Personal Information You Provide

We collect personal information that you voluntarily provide to us when you:

  • Create an account: Email address, name, and authentication credentials
  • Complete your profile: Profile photo, preferences, and travel interests
  • Use the application: Travel itineraries, saved locations, and user-generated content

Information Automatically Collected

When you use Hynto, we may automatically collect certain information about your device and usage:

Always Collected, to Keep the Service Working:

  • Error and Crash Diagnostics: When the app or website hits an error, a report is sent to our error-monitoring provider, Sentry. It contains the error details, the screen or page where it happened, and technical information such as device model, operating system, browser, and app version.
  • Performance Traces: About 1 in 10 screen loads and requests records timing information (for example, how long a screen or request took) so we can find slow or failing parts of the service.
  • Session Replays (website only): A small sample of website sessions (about 1 in 100, and about 1 in 10 of sessions in which an error occurs) records a replay of how the page was used, to help us reproduce faults. All text and everything you type is masked and all images and media are blocked before anything is sent, so the replay shows page layout and interactions, not your content.

Only With Your Consent:

  • Performance Metrics: App load times, screen render times, and OCR processing performance
  • Usage Analytics: Feature usage patterns, navigation flows, and interaction data
  • Location Data (optional): Approximate location (city/region level) and precise location (GPS coordinates) — only if you explicitly enable this option

Note: Usage analytics and in-app performance metrics are opt-in only. You will be asked for consent when you first use the app, and you can change your preferences at any time in Settings. Error and crash diagnostics, performance traces, and website session replays are not covered by that choice, because we rely on them to detect and fix faults in the service.

How We Use Your Information

Core App Functionality

  • Provide, operate, and maintain the Hynto application
  • Manage your account and provide customer support
  • Process your requests and transactions
  • Send you technical notices and support messages

Reliability (Always)

  • Error Tracking: Diagnose and resolve bugs and technical problems, using error and crash diagnostics and website session replays
  • Performance Monitoring: Find and fix slow or failing parts of the service, using sampled performance traces

Analytics and Improvements (Only with Your Consent)

  • Performance Metrics: Measure app load and screen render times to optimize app speed
  • Feature Development: Understand which features are most valuable to improve user experience
  • Usage Analysis: Analyze how users interact with the app to make informed product decisions

Communications

  • Send you updates about the app, new features, and important changes
  • Respond to your comments, questions, and requests

How We Share Your Information

We do NOT sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties.

We may share your information only in the following limited circumstances:

  • Service Providers: With trusted third-party service providers who assist us in operating the app — Supabase (backend/database), Cloudflare (hosting and photo storage), Google Gemini (trip planning and document/receipt scanning), Stripe (payments), Brevo (email), Sentry (error and crash diagnostics, performance traces, and website session replays), Expo (push notifications), and providers of maps, weather, currency, and travel-booking search results. If you use Hynto's travel insurance quote feature, your trip details are shared with our insurance partner to generate a quote.
  • Legal Requirements: When required by law, court order, or government regulation
  • Business Transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets (you will be notified)
  • With Your Consent: When you explicitly authorize us to share your information

Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as necessary to provide our services and fulfill the purposes outlined in this privacy policy.

Analytics Data Retention:

  • Performance metrics: 90 days (automatically deleted)
  • Error reports: 90 days (automatically deleted)
  • Usage analytics: 90 days (automatically deleted)

Account Data:

  • Your account information is retained until you delete your account
  • After account deletion, your personal data is removed within 30 days

Your Privacy Rights (GDPR)

If you are a resident of the European Economic Area (EEA), you have certain data protection rights:

  • Right to Access: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
  • Right to Rectification: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information
  • Right to Erasure: Request deletion of your personal information
  • Right to Restrict Processing: Request limitation on how we use your information
  • Right to Data Portability: Request a copy of your data in a machine-readable format
  • Right to Object: Object to our processing of your personal information
  • Right to Withdraw Consent: Withdraw your consent for analytics at any time in Settings

How to Exercise Your GDPR Rights

To exercise any of these rights, please email us at privacy@hynto.app with your request. Include the email address associated with your Hynto account. We will respond to your request within 30 days.

Self-service account deletion is available in the app and on the web (Settings → Delete Account). Self-service data export is available on the web (Settings → Data). Other GDPR requests, and mobile-only users who want an export, can be made by email.

Children's Privacy

Hynto is intended for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe we have collected information from a person under 18, please contact us immediately at privacy@hynto.app and we will delete it.

Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your information:

  • Encryption: All data transmitted between the app and our servers is encrypted using TLS/SSL
  • Authentication: Secure authentication using industry-standard protocols
  • Access Controls: Limited access to personal data on a need-to-know basis
  • Regular Audits: Periodic security assessments and updates

California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the CCPA:

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will update the "Last Updated" date and notify you of material changes via the app or email.
